THE MYSTERIOUS CREATURE DODO

Dodo is the name of a kind of mysterious flightless bird which has already been extinct from the Universe. The scientific name of this creature is Raphus Cucullatus. This strange creature was found in plenty at the island of Mauritius to the East coast of Madagascar of Indian Ocean. The existence of Dodo was for the first time found in the writings, paintings of the seventeenth century. The first record of Dodo’s remain alive came in spotlight by Dutch sailor in 1598 when he went to visit at the Mauritius island.

There is very mimic evidence available about the creature in the glove. Dodo generally is of as much as 3.3 feet in length and their weight generally fluctuates between 10 to 20 kg. Very little evidence is available about the strange creature’s behavior and habit. Dodo has been depicted in grey in color. It has turf tail, yellow legs. There are three colors available in its beak black, yellow and green. Its beak had a hooked and was 23cm in length.

This strange creature always used gizzard stones to digest food.  They also ate ripe fruit etc.

Dodo lay on the ground. Only one evidence is available in the Universe about its egg of Francois Cauche in 1651 which tells :

I have seen in Mauritius birds bigger than a Swan, without feathers on the body, which is covered with a black down; the hinder part is round, the rump adorned with curled feathers as many in number as the bird is years old. In place of wings they have feathers like these last, black and curved, without webs. They have no tongues, the beak is large, curving a little downwards; their legs are long, scaly, with only three toes on each foot. It has a cry like agosling, and is by no means so savoury to eat as the Flamingos and Ducks of which we have just spoken. They only lay one egg which is white, the size of a halfpenny roll, by the side of which they place a white stone the size of a hen's egg. They lay on grass which they collect, and make their nests in the forests; if one kills the young one, a grey stone is found in the gizzard. We call them Oiseaux de Nazaret. The fat is excellent to give ease to the muscles and nerves.

Dodo could able to build nest in the ground due to the lack of natural predators. The female Dodo laid only a single egg on the ground and the chicken Dodo comes out within 4 to 6 weeks.
